Vogue isn't the only Brazilian publication that's had its eye on Nidas. O Globo. Brazil's biggest newspaper, has featured us across its lifestyle sections not once, but three times, from an Olympic-inspired fashion story to a Valentine's gift guide and a getaway-worthy travel pick. Here's the story, translated for our Australian family.
July 2016 — O Globo's Ela: "Dancer in the Water"
As the world turned its eyes to Rio for the 2016 Olympics, O Globo's Ela section ran a striking beachwear editorial titled "Bailarina na Água" ("Dancer in the Water"), part of a feature called "Glamour Olímpico." Shot by Daniel Mattar and starring model Marcella Freesz, the story traced the one-piece swimsuit's journey from modest cover-up to sporty statement piece:
"If the bikini was invented in 1946, the one-piece swimsuit has been worn by women since the early 20th century. It once covered the body almost entirely, hiding most of the legs. From the 1920s onward, it began shrinking to reveal more skin — the logic being simple: as women gained more freedom and a bigger role in public life, they showed more of their bodies. In sport, the one-piece lives on in swimming, synchronised swimming, and artistic and rhythmic gymnastics... And since the Olympics are being held in Rio, the world capital of beachwear, local labels drew on the Games to create sporty beachwear that still holds onto the flair the beach demands."

June 2018 — O Globo's Ela: The Ultimate Gift Guide
Two years later, Nidas made the cut in Ela's gift guide for Dia dos Namorados (Brazil's Valentine's Day), a page dedicated to the season's must-have picks:
"Red, animal prints, and black and white are some of this season's must-have trends for her gift on this special date."
Among the twelve edit-worthy picks — sitting alongside jewellery, silk blouses and designer heels — was our striped black-and-cream one-piece, listed simply as: "Maiô, Nidas, R$210." A Nidas swimsuit, called out by name as the gift-worthy pick of the season.
July 2018 — O Globo's Ela: The Perfect Travel Companion
Later that year, Ela published its "Escolha Certa" ("The Right Choice") travel guide, part of the newly launched Circuito Elegante 2018 — a curated list of Brazil's best boutique stays. For the Bahia Bonita inn in Trancoso, Bahia, the magazine wrote:
"Think of the perfect combination. Pousada Bahia Bonita sits close to the Quadrado, the heart of Trancoso in Bahia, with views over the sea, the river and the Atlantic Forest... You'll be hard-pressed to leave without that perfect tan."
And in the "What to Pack" edit alongside it: "Swimsuit (Nidas R$220), sunglasses (LIVO R$549) and bag (Nannacay R$550)." O Globo didn't just feature Nidas — they packed it, naming our swimsuit the essential piece for one of Brazil's most coveted beach escapes.
